I had a best friend for three years and we stopped talking over a guy I started dating. She wouldn’t speak to me because of him and now that we broke up she wants to make everything “right” but at the same time she’s trying to get with him. She’s trying to fix it with me and thinks he won’t hurt her even though he still texts me and we still mess around. Do I tell her or let her find out what a d-bag he is by herself?
#1: Stop messing around with your ex. He’s your ex for a reason and screwing around with him delays you moving on with your life.
#2: Do not become friends with this girl again. If she really missed your friendship, she would have sucked it up during the 3 years you dated this guy and made nice then. It’s pretty obvious that the only reasons she’s trying to be friends with you now is to make sure you don’t get back together with him because that’s what she wants.
#3: The best way to end things with her permanently is to have a short conversation or send her a quick email. I’d be very direct and say: My ex is a douchebag who is trying to get back together with me and still texts me to screw around. You are a sad excuse for a friend who is trying to use me to get together with my ex boyfriend. The two of you would be a great match. A pair of users who only care about themselves. I wish you both luck. Don’t ever talk to me again.
Something like that would work. You need to get these a-holes out of your life. They are selfish, users and a waste of your time. Focus your energy on positive things that help you become a better person and live a better life. If you’re wasting your time with this false friend and loser ex, you’re missing the opportunity to form new friendships and relationships.
Don’t forget – karma’s a bitch. Obviously you don’t want her and your ex to start dating, but if they do he’ll treat her like garbage and perhaps finally realize what goes around comes around.
